barefoot in the rain

we haven't had much rain this summer,
so jude has never really experienced what it feels like to have the wet droplets tickle his skin.
{i normally run to the door holding him...i know, terrible me!}
we've had some downpours over the past two weeks in the late afternoons,
not everyday, just here and there...
it's so nice to hear the thunder and watch the heaven-sent shower bathe our freshly-cut grass.
what's even more fun to watch is a 20 month old experience
the sprinkle of liquid sunshine for the first time,
barefoot and splashing,
 all the while daddy stands close beside.

{please excuse the picture quality...rain is hard for my little canon powershot to capture}

he didn't want to come back in...
it's too much fun playing in the rain!

nursery {sneak peak}

we are behind {what i would like to be} with our guest room turned nursery make-over. i'm 30 weeks, and would like to be finished...however, with the very busy 20 month old, and a very busy husband, we've not really done much! i have picked out baby girl's bedding...i also have an idea of what else i'd like to do with her room (which i'll share some pics of those things later)'s a peak at what we've gotten so far...
i purchased the {used} pottery barn bumper off of ebay for super cheap {which makes mama very happy...i love cute and affordable}. the matching pillow sham was brand new off ebay as well {again super affordable and way less than the pbk website!}. i spotted the adorable decorative pillow on a clearance end cap at target {probably my favorite store ever!} for a whopping $2.86! i couldn't pass it up!

{the color is off in these pictures...the peach looking color is actually more pink}

{again i apologize for the terrible picture...the lighting in that room isn't great for pics}
the hubs and i purchased these on our honeymoon, and we've never hung them up! we really like them, and they mean something to us, so they are going in her room, once we frame them.

up-close of the prints...

that's all for now, but there's more to come...

{miscellany monday}

 i'm linking up today with my bff carissa over at lowercase letters for miscellany monday.

what's in a name?
baby girl is still nameless. baby naming is hard, well, for us at least. we had a boys name already picked out, but a girl's name...we have a few that we like, but we can't decide on what we want to call her for the rest of her precious life.

sneak peak
come back tomorrow for a sneak peak at baby girl's nursery decor.
here's a teaser...

this little man loves the beach...

this little man also loves his cousin and really enjoys following him around...

easy envelope pillows
i purchased pillow inserts from target {2 per pack for only $5.00} a {long} while back, with the intentions of making pillow covers to put them on our couches. well, i'm slow in my projects! but, here are two that i made. they aren't quite finished...i want to add some decoration...perhaps rosettes...but, i love the's just a gray cotton...and were super easy to make...and i'm a beginner sewer! i followed this tutorial:
{the pillow to the left is the front view, and the right is the back.}
i'll post pictures after i add the detail to them, because i have no idea when i'll be motivated to finish mind is on the nursery...

i love pictures of sleeping babies, especially when they're of this handsome little guy...

happy monday!

praying for our husbands

i love this man!
he's everything i could ever ask for...he's my adam...
the past few weeks have been crazy for our family...
i'm preggers and running around after our 20 month old, and caleb's been working a ton of hours, and has some big decisions to make in the next few weeks/months.
to be honest, it's been stressful...thinking about uncertainties in what lies ahead...caleb's been stressed, i've been stressed {and hormonal}...
thankfully, we serve a GOD of certainties...our days are set before we were thought of by our parents...
i've been trying to think of ways to be a supportive wife, and i remembered this piece of paper i found in my desk at my job before i became a full time mommy {i used to work at my church}.
the title says "ways to pray for your husband."
i pray for caleb, but sometimes feel like i'm being redundant or selfish in my prayers. i really like that this little piece of paper has specific things to pray for daily, and has scripture to go along with it. i think praying scripture is a great way to pray! i'm not sure where they came from, and i'm in no way taking credit for them! however, i did want to share with you ways to pray for your husband daily...if you need a little guidance like me!

{ways to pray for your husbands}
1. that he might become a holy man, a man of prayer, mature in the LORD, growing in his knowledge of GOD. (1 thessalonians 5:23; colossians 4:12; ephesians 1:18, 19, 3:16-19)
2. that he might daily seek GOD with all his heart, walking in spirit moment by moment, growing in his dependence on Him. (psalm 119:1-2, psalm 27:4, proverbs 3:5-6; jn. 15:5)

3. that he might learn to take every thought captive, to not be conformed to the world's thinking and to think scriptually. (romans 12:2, 2 corinthians 10:15)
4. that he would learn to not depend on his circumstances for happiness but on GOD alone. (habakkuk 3:17-19)

5. that he might have new strength in the midst of his busy schedule and that the LORD might infuse him with His strength. (isaiah 40:31; ephesians 3:14-19)
6. that his self image might be a reflection of the LORD's thoughts toward Him. (ephesians 1:17-19; romans 12:3, psalm 139)

7. that he might become a called man, not driven, with the well thought-through and prayed-through goals in his life. (1 corinthians 9:24-27)
8. that the LORD might give him wisdom to lead our family physically, emothionally, mentally, and spiritually. (ephesians 1:17-19, james 1:5-7)

9. that he might stand firm against the schemes of the devil and resist satan in all circumstances. (ephesians 6:10-18; james 4:7)
10. that he might not be deceived into unbelief or in sin. (matthew 13:58; galatians 6:7)

11. that the fruit of the spirit might be exhibited more and more in his life. (galatians 5:22-23)
12. that he might learn to love as GOD has commanded. (1 corinthians 13:4-7; romans 12:8-10)

13. that the LORD might protect him, guarding his course. (proverbs 2:8)
14. that he might learn to manage his time well. (ephesians 5:15)

easy peach cobbler

yummy peaches...they remind me of summer. i love a juicy, sweet peach on a hot summer day! how refreshing. about 45 minutes away from my house is a place you can pick peaches right off the tree. my mema and papa (my grandparents) came all the way from florida to go there and pick peaches. i would've loved to have gone with them and my mom, but little man was sick, and i didn't want to wake him up at 6 am to go (my little guy sleeps until about 8am). even though we didn't get to go pick them, we did get to enjoy them! i was brought back a half a bushel! that's a lot of peaches! so, we've been eating at least one a day each and i've made 3 peach cobblers! the hubs loved it! he's the reason i made 3! i didn't realize how easy peach cobbler was to make! hope you enjoy!

peach cobbler
serves 4

4 tablespoons unsalted butter
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
cinnamon (to taste)
brown sugar
3-4 medium/large peaches sliced & skin-free

1. heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. put butter in an 8-inch square, and set in oven to melt. when butter has melted, remove pan from oven.
3. whisk flour, 3/4 cup of sugar, baking powder and salt in small bowl. add cinnamon to your taste (i love cinnamon and added a lot!) add milk; whisk to form a smooth batter.
4. pour batter into pan (the butter will come up over the sides of the batter...that's ok! don't mix them together), layer fruit over batter (it's ok to layer the peaches over the peaches). sprinkle with brown sugar (i didn't measure the sugar, i just sprinkled a little bit over it)
5. bake until batter browns, about 55 minutes to an hour.
6. serve warm with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (or a tall glass of milk)
*since posting this, i made it again and added some {a lot} of blueberries and cut the peaches to 2-3 of them. it was excellent!!*

29 weeks

i haven't really talked about pregnancy at all in the past 29 weeks. there are only 11 weeks left {if that}! so, i thought i'd write a little update. i've seen these on other blogs, so i copied...i'm unoriginal i know!

how far along? 29 weeks
weight gain? about 20lbs
maternity clothes? umm, yes, definitely...however, i am still wearing non-maternity too. in the picture above, i'm wearing non-maternity! i have 2 pairs of gap shorts that have stretchy waists that i wear pretty much all the time.
stretch marks? none {so far}
sleep? baby girl moves a lot at night time, but i sleep really well...besides the nightly trips to the bathroom
best moment this week? jude patting my belly saying's so cute to hear him say "baybee"
movement? almost all the time! she's quite the mover and shaker...with lots of hiccups!
cravings? i don't really have any cravings, but i do like to have {chocolate} milk almost everyday
gender? baby girl
labor signs? just braxton hicks every once in a while
belly button in or out? still in
what i miss? laying on my stomach, bending over without a belly, and eating a hamburger or steak{for some weird reason, i can't eat beef this hurts my stomach}
what i'm looking forward to? picking a name for this little one! she's still baby girl...we can't decide on a's not that we don't agree, we have a few names we both like, but we just can't pick one and say that's her...we are just continuing to pray for guidance in the process.
