find out what it means to 'him'...
yes, i know those aren't the real's 'me,' not 'him'...but, 'me' really is a 'him'!
we (caleb and i) are reading a book right now called love & respect by dr. emerson eggerichs...great title...really great book!  a must read for every wife and husband...or really anyone can benefit even if you aren't married! the subtitle of the book is "the love she most desires, the respect he desperately needs."
how true is the subtitle in your life?  you (woman) desire above all to be loved!  that desire is in all of us (i'm assuming i have no men readers)...sometimes we desire that so much that we do crazy things...
the book is great so far...we are only through chapter are a few morsels you can take and chew on for now...i will share more as we go through the book...if you can, read the book!

However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:33
(i added the emphasis)

what?...i've read this passage so many times, but never really thought about the respect part...i always assumed it meant love...or maybe even my head replaced respect with love when i read it!  dr. eggerichs says that this passage is clearly saying wives need love and husbands need can't get much simpler than that!
i only want to share what has been speaking to me through this, so i'm speaking to wives only...
how do you respect your husband?  i'm not asking how you show him you love him, but how do you show that you respect him?
well, what is respect?

respect:  (noun) esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability
(verb) to hold in esteem or honor

so now, how do you hold in esteem or honor your husband?
if you aren't sure, ask your husband...what makes him feel respected?  the bible says we must do this and respect is what he can see this in the business want to be respected.  why wouldn't we as wives want to give our husbands what they need most.
also ladies, this respect is unconditional!

Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct. 1 Peter 3:1-2
(i added the emphasis)

so, we need to respect our husbands, even if they don't deserve it!  wow!  i know it's not easy, but it's what's commanded of us as wives!

as a side note fyi to what i wrote in the beginning of this long (oops! wasn't meant to be long) post...r-e-s-p-e-c-t wasn't written by aretha was actually written by otis redding - a man!  think about it...

what can you do today to show your husband the respect he needs?

p.s. click over to my baby sister's blog:  ashley @ 6 inches of ribbon...she shared some of her life story today, and i'm super proud of her for doing it!
